Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is the gold standard for hair removal and regrowth inhibition in light skinned patients. It prevents future hair growth by targeting the melanin at the base of the hair follicle. Heating damages follicle so hair returns lighter if at all and returns slowly. IPL epilation is a great alternative to electrolysis with many advantages. It’s a safe, effective and comfortable way to rid yourself of unwanted hair on the legs, underarms, face and torso.
A numbing creme is applied for your comfort, prior to treatment. Experienced RN specialists dial in the optimal parameters for your skin type, hair color, texture and location. A cold gel is then applied. The IPL handpiece pulses light into the treatment site. Sessions range from 15 minutes to an hour.Treated hair falls out over the next few days. Touch ups are required to remove regrowth. It generally takes 3-4 sessions to clear an area since hair can only be treated while in the growth phase (hair is in this phase about 1/3 of the time). Side effects are rare--slight redness or swelling, sometimes a small bruise or blister or pigment. Most resolve in a few weeks. Sunscreen is a must! Call for consultation
